Any of the boards here would make a perfect first surfboard for someone with a couple of lessons under their belt (or a bit of confidence to go it alone). These boards come in manageable lengths but have great buoyancy and stability, which is just what you need when you are starting out, not to mention great value for money.
You can use the filter on the left hand side to find the right size and model of board for you. A few points to think about are how easily the board will catch waves, its durability and manoeuvrability. The more volume the board has the easier it will catch waves, but too much volume can make the board difficult to handle in the surf. Nothing will progress your surfing faster than having the right board that allows you to catch as many waves as possible.
When choosing a board consider your size and weight, how regularly you'll be surfing and where you will be surfing most.
