Billabongs Xero Pro range is aimed at keeping you as flexible as possible without losing the benefit of a 5mm winter wetsuit, a lot of features focus on performance, much like the Xcel Infiniti Comp or the Rip Curl E-Bomb Pro wetsuits with a few extra warming features thrown in.
The large, unbroken front and back panels allow the super stretchy neoprene to stretch without being held back by stitching in seams, giving you better freedom of movement.
Inside the seams on the arms and the bottom of the legs you'll find a strip of liquid sealing rubber, this will keep the water out and make them more durable but we've found it does hinder flexibility over a similar wetsuit without sealed arm seams.
The rest of the body is sealed on the inside with flexible tape which allows a bit more stretch than the liquid sealing, leaving the stitching exposed on the whole suit also adds to the consistent stylish look.
Billabong's fluffy lining is quite thick and has grooves in it to allow water to drain off more quickly, it's only on the inside of the front panel of the Xero Pro but that's more lining than you get in equivalent performance focused wetsuits from other brands.
A surfer who wants more flexibility than a Billabong Xero Furnace or Rip Curl Flash Bomb but also more warmth than an Xcel Inifniti Comp or O'Neill Psychofreak will be very happy with the Billabong Xero Pro.
Also consider the Xero Pro if flexibnility is a priority but you feel the cold or often surf in colder environments and don't want to go for an all-out performance winter wetsuit without the warming features.
Choosing the right thickness for you
This is a 5/4 wetsuit, it has 5mm panels in the torso and legs and 4mm panels in the arms and under the arms, this ensures you get the warmth in the core of the body and the flexibility to paddle in the arms.
The best thickness of wetsuit for you depends mostly on where and what time of year you will be surfing, 5mm is the most popular thickness for surfing throughout the winter in the UK.
We have created a guide which goes into more depth about choosing the best thickness for you so if you've got any doubts take a look at the msw wetsuit thickness guide
Choosing the right size for you
Getting the right size wetsuit is critical, the wrong size will not keep you warm and could end up putting more stress on the seams, different brands use slightly different size charts so you may not be the same size across different makes of wetsuit, we suggest looking at the size chart page to judge which size will be the best fit for you.
If you have any questions about the differences between wetsuits, the fit or the thickness that would be best for you give us a call on 01548 854660 or an e-mail on firstname.lastname@example.org where we're happy to help.
Xero Pro is a light weight, super-flexible, high performance wetsuit.
