C-Skins have produced a very good winter wetsuit for a decent price, the combination of sealed seams, fluffy lining and minimal panels give it a good combination of flexibility and warmth.

The permanently attached hood makes sure even less water gets into the wetsuit through the neck and gives you a big boost in warmth, especially when the winds blowing.

You can slide the hood down around your neck if you're too hot but it cannot be removed from the wetsuit, if you surf in the coldest environments and the wind is often cold and strong, a hooded wetsuit offers a big advantage over a separate hood.

The wetsuit uses really stretchy neoprene throughout and the glued and blind stitched seams are sealed on the outside with a thinner than usual bead of rubber liquid seal, this should help with flexibility compared to other liquid sealed seams and improve durability over non sealed seams too.

The front zip is sturdy and sealed on one side like most high end front zip wetsuits, the cuffs on the arms are similar to the Xcel Drylock cuff and should prevent any water getting in, especially if you're using gloves with the wetsuit.

Go for the Wired if you want a sealed, flexible wetsuit with warming fluffy lining at a great price.

Consider the C-Skins Hot Wired if you want a warmer wetsuit, or something like the O'Neil Psychofreak or Xcel Infiniti Comp if you'd prefer an all out performance winter wetsuit.

Choosing the right thickness for you

This is a 6/5/4 wetsuit, it has 6mm panels in the torso and legs and 5mm panels in the arms and 4mm panels under the arms, this ensures you get the warmth in the core of the body and the flexibility to paddle in the arms.

The best thickness of wetsuit for you depends mostly on where and what time of year you will be surfing, 6mm is popular with surfers in the coldest parts of the UK and Europe.

We have created a guide which goes into more depth about choosing the best thickness for you so if you've got any doubts take a look at the msw wetsuit thickness guide

Choosing the right size for you

Getting the right size wetsuit is critical, the wrong size will not keep you warm and could end up putting more stress on the seams, different brands use slightly different size charts so you may not be the same size across different makes of wetsuit, we suggest looking at the size chart page to judge which size will be the best fit for you.

If you have any questions about the differences between wetsuits, the fit or the thickness that would be best for you give us a call on 01548 854660 or an e-mail on where we're happy to help.

  • Feels very well made, fits my measurements like a glove in size MT. First time I tried it the water was so full of slushed ice surfing was nearly impossible, the suit kept me nice and warm without any problems. Handles windchill well too, wich is necessary in the baltic sea. Will se how it lasts over time, but very happy so far.

  • Super warm and flexible. Looks and feels solid, only tried for one session so far though. Feels a bit tight over the chest, even though the size should be right according to own measurements. Doesn't really affect performance in water though. Overall great buy!
