A major advance in moulded fin technology, Glass Flex has been formulated to replicate the flex and memory properties of a laminated fiberglass fin. Developed with chemical engineers, Glass Flex is a high fibreglass content composite using a new custom compounded resin formula delivering the benefits of increased stiffness and memory.
Glass Flex has many advantages over other composite fin materials. It is stiffer, with more positive flex pattern (nice tip flex, little base flex) and remarkable flex memory. The new natural color has a degree of translucency, replicating the aesthetic of the prototype G-10 material, preferred by elite surfers. The precision of the injection moulded process ensures the highest accuracy in both geometry and flex in each fin produced. The greatest advantage of the new Glass Flex material is that this technology is available as standard on all high quality production boards.
The Performance Core (PC) material and construction is designed to deliver the feeling of a traditional glass fin with the added performance of reduced weight.
The fins are made using a resin transfer moulding process, moulding a sandwich of lightweight lantor (honeycomb foam like structure) between layers of 4oz fiberglass and polyester resin. This process guarantees precision and accuracy. Each fin is then hand finished and polished, giving the fin a glossy smooth feel. The result is a lightweight fin with remarkable flex, a glossy smooth feel and an impressive aesthetic.
Performance Glass (PG) fins are machine cut from traditional fin panel (laid 4/6oz fibreglass sheets and polyester resin) to guarantee foil, template and flex accuracy. The fins are then hand-finished and polished.
The resulting material characteristics and flex pattern are identical to traditional fiberglass fins - a stiff base with subtle, responsive tip flex, amazing aesthetics and proven durability.
The PG fins are the perfect transition fin for surfers moving from glass on fins to the convenience, accuracy and performance of FCS, or for the surfer looking for a more positive feel from their board than by Glass Flex or Performance Core fins
The unique extended base creates more drive which enhances longer sustained arcs and gives greater stability and control in and out of critical turns and turbulent water.
