About Fusion plugs

Fusion was developed primarily for EPS/Epoxy surfboards; however the system can be just as easily applied to PU/Poly construction surfboards. Our goal in designing Fusion was to offer significant improvements and advantages over other pre-glass systems currently on the market.

STRENGTH
Fusion is the strongest pre-glass system on the market. This was achieved by incorporating a figure eight outline which provides constant curves to prevent the straight line shearing that fibreglass is prone to. We also incorporated a high density foam foundation under the plug to dramatically increase the impact resistance and break strength, while providing a solid base so the plug does not rotate or sink into the foam.

Note: The strength of other pre-glass systems is reliant on the strength of the actual foam blank and the fibreglass and resin covering the flange of the plug. Generally surfboard blanks do not provide the strength required to support the lateral forces experienced under load. This causes other systems to sink into the foam causing the fibreglass above the system to crack.

WEIGHT
FCS Fusion has proven to be the lightest pre-glass fin system available. Minimising the installed weight of the system ensures the natural balance of the board is never compromised.

SIZE
FCS Fusion has a shorter footprint than other pre-glass systems allowing the tail of the board to flex naturally. Tail flex is very important because it not only gives the board a livelier more responsive feel, but also helps create speed and makes the board more forgiving by adjusting to the curve of the wave and the arc of your turns. With Fusion, the smaller footprint also gives the side fins greater clearance from the rail of the board making installation easier, and ensuring fi n positions are never compromised.

ACCURACY
Shapers spend considerable time on fin placement so we feel it's very important to see the shapers dots as they tell you at a glance that the fin system has been installed accurately. We know that a slight variation in fin placement can make a big difference to how your board performs. While other box systems require the removal of the shapers dots, FCS Fusion does not.

CANT ANGLES
FCS Fusion comes available in three different cant angles; 0 degrees, 5 degrees and 9 degrees. Choosing the correct cant angle makes it easy to obtain the desired fin position while adjusting to suit both extreme and subtle bottom contours. This allows for a stronger installation with accurate fin cant angles every time.

ADJUSTABILITY
FCS Fusion plugs have slightly elongated fi n slots. This allows for slight forward and aft fin adjustment for surfers who want to fine-tune the performance of their board.
