A real insight into quite possibly the greatest living surfer and the extraordinary year that saw him take his seventh world title.
Interviews and opinions but most importantly loads of footage of Kelly in action around the world in epic waves.
At over an hour long and packed with extras a really great surf DVD
Our Review
Much as I enjoy watching the surfing on the WCT I'll be honest I've never really been into the whole competition side - so while I expected to be (as always) impressed by the surfing I didn't expect to be particularly sucked into the whole film. Very very wrong. Ok for a start Slater is human, you get to see him break down, pick him self up again and then go on to post the most incredible win in the history of the comp. Two ten point rides in a heat in Tahiti on a wave that was completely unmakable and has been described as the greatest single wave ever on tour.
Check out the footage of Slater pulling into some heaving Aussie kegs on two fins after losing one early on. The guy's a legend.
The interview segments are short enough that it'll work as a pre-surf amp up, but interesting enough to create a flow and story to the flick that gives it just an extra bit of interest over your normal surf film.
Packed with extras it's a steal at under seventeen quid.
In the 1990's, Kelly Slater established himself as the most dominant professional surfer ever. He won a record 6 world titles. But that was then. By 2005, it had been 7 years since he had worn the crown. Many thought he was past his prime.
They were wrong.
Experience the most triumphant year of Kelly's career. Join him in the epic waves of the WCT "dream tour" - Australia, South Pacific, Africa, North and South America, Asia and Europe - on his quest for his long awaited 7th world title. Get a behind the scenes look into one of the most intense years in competitive surfing - the rivalries, the controversies and the drama - from the world's top pro surfers. Witness revealing and exclusive interviews with Kelly and never before seen backstage footage of his life. Packed with bonus features, this is the documentary that pulls back the curtain and shows history in the making.
A great insight into a record breaking year for Slater. If you follow the ASP tour then none of it's particulaly new, a bit light overall but very enjoyable none the less! Definately worth a peek!

It's a good movie, but I feel there is a bit too much talking and too little surfing. Don't get me wrong, there is some great surf footage in this movie, but there is also a lot of talk

One of my favourite DVDs already! (I have about 20 titles) Some of the rides are obscene! More inspiration from Kelly Slater. Decent soundtrack too!
