Roof Racks Surfboard roof racks are an essential piece of kit for any surfer. They allow you to carry your surfboard on top of your car instead of blocking your rear view and protect your board from damage. If you are looking for an inexpensive, flexible and stable solution then a soft rack is your best option. It is also the only option if your vehicle does not have a preinstalled luggage rack.
Soft racks usually consist of a high quality strap that runs through the vehicle and allows the board to slip into place. A great advantage of a soft rack is it's ability to be used on multiple vehicles. It is important to note that with the use of a soft rack, snug is the key. Rack Pads and Straps
Roof rack pads are designed to be used with existing fixed roof racks to protect your board from the bars. You'll also need some rack straps to tie your board down.

Complete Hard Racks
Hard racks tend to have a more sturdy construction and the price tag to go with it. If you are willing to spend the cash and surf often it's possibly a better option.
However some hard racks require your vehicle to have a preinstalled luggage rack or something similar. If you choose to use hard racks remember to protect your board with rack pads.
