It'd be easy to pigeon hole the surf mat but it's a classic product that's seeing a renaissance. From a great first surf craft to a high speed wave riding vehicle (surf legend George Greenoughs 'in the barrel' video footage was shot from the top of a surf mat) a mat will work in any wave from knee high and up and can be folded, packed away, carried in the car, on the plane and just unrolled and inflated wherever there are waves.
