The 1mm reef boot is an essential item for anyone travelling to a tropical location on a surf trip, they protect against coral, stone or wildlife when walking on the reef.

It's so easy to pick up an annoying injury when walking over coral reef, one of the easiest ways to avoid having the worry of infection or just a niggling injury which affects your confidence or surfing is to get a pair of reef booties like these.

Sizing

We recommend going for the same size in wetsuit boots as you wear in regular shoes, you want a snug fit without any pressure on your toes.

The size printed inside an Xcel boot is the US size, the sizes on the site for all 2013 Xcel boots are in UK sizes so if you've got a pair from a previous season with 10 printed on the inside you want to go for a UK 9 size.

Good boots, if a little expensive. Used in Sri Lanka, plenty of reef contact and walking around. No problems

Light-weight protective boot. Used in Fuerte for the first time and did the job well. Good grip whilst up on your board too.

Really comfortable, don't notice that you are wearing them. Did have to walk out across the reef a couple of times and these handled the live coral excellently.

These come up a bit small and had to reorder a bigger size. After decades of always wearing booties 1 size smaller than shoe size, it seems Excel have caught on and make them tight for your normal size. These are comfy, well-built and perfect for summer paddleboarding. Shockcord toggle and velcro strap yet to be tested in surf. Easy on and off and decent drainage. Good value as well.

dont waste your time or money on this product. the boot is a good fit and is well constructed apart from one major flaw, the velcro will never keep the boot firmly strapped to your foot. it constantly opens, as in even when your paddling never mind getting a licking from a wave. frustrating just wearing them to be honest. never even consider this product. boom!

Nice boot. Stopped the feet from getting cut up. But they almost got ripped off my feet several times cause the velcro strap kept coming undone - I do not want to be stressing about loosing a bootie when a cleanup set is rolling through. Not the best booties around, but still pretty comfy and strong.

Absolutely rubbish. Went surfing today and lost one boot, the other one I looked at when I got out to find out why, and found the plastic thing which ties behind the heel is loose and doesn't grip the cord any more already! Will be returning this one to you so you can have a look...
