The Axis winter wetsuit from Xcel is great value and has some fantastic features that will help keep you warm and flexible that you'd expect to find on a more expensive wetsuit.

The Axis is equivalent to last seasons X-Flex style of suit, with single lined, slick skin neoprene on the chest and back panels with the polypro thermal lining on the inside of both giving you protection against harsh wind.

The seams are taped in critical places on the inside and are glued and blind stitched throughout.

A front zip system allows more flexibility through the shoulders and means less water gets in through the neck compared to a back zip entry.

If you want a stretchy, warm wetsuit for winter surfing at the right price the Axis is a great choice.

Choosing the right thickness for you

This is a 5/4/3 wetsuit, it has 5mm panels in the torso and legs and 4mm panels in the arms and 3mm panels under the arms, this ensures you get the warmth in the core of the body and the flexibility to paddle in the arms.

The best thickness of wetsuit for you depends mostly on where and what time of year you will be surfing, 5mm is the most popular thickness for year round surfing in the UK.

We have created a guide which goes into more depth about choosing the best thickness for you so if you've got any doubts take a look at the msw wetsuit thickness guide

Choosing the right size for you

Getting the right size wetsuit is critical, the wrong size will not keep you warm and could end up putting more stress on the seams, different brands use slightly different size charts so you may not be the same size across different makes of wetsuit, we suggest looking at the size chart page to judge which size will be the best fit for you.

If you have any questions about the differences between wetsuits, the fit or the thickness that would be best for you give us a call on 01548 854660 or an e-mail on store@magicseaweed.com where we're happy to help.

  • No complaints for the price. Seals on arms and legs aren't as good as the higher spec suits but still a good suit and warm. Key pocket is a bit too small.

  • I was really pleased with this suit - am 6ft in height and of an athletic build - a MT fits perfectly. Surfing the South Wales coast this suit is super toasty - no water flushes down the neck or back like old school wetsuits. The front zip really secures you in and keeps you warm. Super flexible and light weight. An awesome priced wetty at £195.99!
