Very comfy, and warm suit, but fragile. After a couple of months of use, the liquid seams are already splitting, inside of the neck seal is wearing, and the neoprene showing signs of wear/scuff marks. Come on Xcel - these are expensive suits, make the quality reflect the high price.”

This is the 2014 version of this Xcel Wetsuit. Magicseaweed are an official Xcel stockist and part of the Xcel Warranty and Repair scheme

The Drylock from Xcel combines all the top features from the other wetsuits and adds stitchless seams and a waterproof zip.

Fusionweld is the new name for the Powerseam stitchless seam, this season it's more flexible than ever with the thin bead of seal on the outside, glue between the panels of neoprene and stretchy tape on the inside of the seam.

Not having any stitching gives you a stretchier, more durable seam with less chance of leaks, it's the best of all worlds and helps the Drylock be the best combination of flexibility and warmth in the whole range.

Features that are carried over from previous seasons include the popular wrist seals, insulating air chamber neoprene in the chest and back panels and the fully waterproof zip, it also incorporates all new lighter neoprene and quick drying fluffy lining.

Xcel have given the new combination of lighter foam, fluffy lining and quick dry fabric on the outside the title of TD3.

The new lighter foam has more air blown into it so it's not only lighter but warmer as well.

The new fluffy lining on the inside of the chest and back panels has grooves in it which helps the water run off so it dries more quickly, the lining on the outside of the wetsuit makes water run off before it soaks in.

It has the regular fluffy lining down to the knees and uses Xcels stretchy tape for sealing on this inside of the seams, this will increase the lifespan of the suit and keep you warmer.

Choosing the right thickness for you

This is a 3/2 wetsuit, it has 3mm panels in the torso and legs and 2mm panels in the arms, this ensures you get the warmth in the core of the body and the flexibility to paddle in the arms.

The best thickness of wetsuit for you depends mostly on where and what time of year you will be surfing, 3mm is the most popular thickness for summer wetsuits in most of the UK and Europe.

We wear our 3mm wetsuits from Spring to Autumn in the South West of the UK.

We have created a guide which goes into more depth about choosing the best thickness for you so if you've got any doubts take a look at the msw wetsuit thickness guide

Choosing the right size for you

Getting the right size wetsuit is critical, the wrong size will not keep you warm and could end up putting more stress on the seams, different brands use slightly different size charts so you may not be the same size across different makes of wetsuit, we suggest looking at the size chart page to judge which size will be the best fit for you.

If you have any questions about the differences between wetsuits, the fit or the thickness that would be best for you give us a call on 01548 854660 or an e-mail on store@magicseaweed.com where we're happy to help.
