Instant Wind Forecasting is a great little book. Computer generated wind forecasts look at general trends over an area and miss the often all important local changes. The book will tell you, for example, at what time the afternoon sea breeze will kick up and how strong. It'll also tell you what sort of waves you can expect the local winds to add to the swell. This book is mainly aimed at sailors, and although easy to understand covers the subject at some depth (ie. you'll need to spend a bit of time with it to get the most from the content) but if you want to be the guy in the line-up who takes a quick look at his watch, the clouds on the horizon and as if by magic knows what's coming up then it's well worth a read (it'll also help plan a session for the perfect local winds).

Fantastic book goes into great detail but still easy to read
Pictures of clouds with eplanations of what was going on to make them like that was the best part. The tables got a bit boring and hard to follow after a while. It is a sailing manual, after all.

Great handbook for meteorology in the field.
